2008 West Lakes Meeting of the Association of American Geographers: Instructions

Instructions for abstracts, organized sessions, presentations and posters

Abstracts

Participants in WLDAAG2008 who would like to present a paper or poster at the meeting must submit an abstract of 200 words or less that provides a brief overview of the objectives, methods, and conclusions of the presentation. The abstract must be submitted at the time of registration via the online conference website (www.indiana.edu/~geog/wldaag). Also, presenters must be sure to include up to three keywords at the time of abstract submission.

Organized sessions

Students and faculty are encouraged to propose organized sessions focusing on a specific topic or sub-discipline for the upcoming meeting. If you would like to organize a session or make a proposal, please contact Jim Biles (jbiles@indiana.edu) beforehand. Sessions may consist of five individual presentations or four presentations with a discussant.

Presentations

Due to time constraints, most sessions will limit presentations to 20 minutes, including questions. The session chair will be responsible for overseeing the timely presentation of papers. Laptops and projectors will be available in each of the conference rooms at the Indiana Memorial Union. We will not be able to accommodate requests for other equipment such as slide and overhead projectors.

Posters

We hope to organize one or two poster sessions at the upcoming West Lakes meeting. Each session will consist of 10-15 posters with opportunities for informal discussion with poster authors. Posters should contain mostly visual and graphic information; text should be limited to brief statements. In addition, the poster should be clearly legible from a distance of four feet and displayable on a flat 4' x 8' surface.
